The 30-day venue walk through is essential to schedule when coordinating a wedding. At the 30 day walk through, you and your fiance, wedding planner, caterer, and venue staff will go over final details. Furthermore, a 30-day walk through helps to envision how things will play out on the wedding day and address any questions you and your wedding planner may have. You and your planner will go over the vendors’ arrival/departure times and whose car you want gifts, cards, and decor to go into. Also at the walk through, your wedding planner will provide a day-of timeline that includes when vendors can start setup and when everyone needs to finally leave the venue. Here are four questions to ask venue staff 30 days prior to the big day.
Hours of Availability:
Make sure to confirm with venue staff the earliest time you can arrive and the latest time you can leave. It is particularly important to note the earliest time you can arrive, as your wedding planner will be arriving several hours in advance. Your planner will arrive early to help with decor setup, vendor arrangement, and to serve as a general point of contact so you yourself are free to enjoy the day.
Parking:
Double check where guests will be allowed to park. This detail is especially significant if guests will be driving themselves as opposed to coming in a bus, shuttle, etc. Once you know where vehicles are to be parked, send out a mass email to all your guests letting them know ahead of time.
Getting Ready Spaces:
Whether you plan to get ready at home, in a hotel, or at the venue itself, make sure you are aware of where your venue’s getting ready spaces are located. These will be private areas where you can go to touch up hair/makeup and make any desired wardrobe changes. They are also spaces where your planner can arrange to have food and drink waiting for you after the ceremony.
Restroom Locations:
Although it may be silly, make a point of asking where the nearest restrooms, including a handicap accessible one, are located. Then, announce this to your bridal party at the rehearsal dinner. This way the bridal party, along with your wedding planner, can be a point of contact for guests, and you can avoid being bombarded with questions. As your wedding planner, we do our absolute best to ensure we meet both your needs and the needs of your guests, making you free to relax and enjoy the day.
