Many guests look forward to the live music wedding ceremonies, and at times receptions, have to offer.  However, with so many musicians to choose from, it can be hard to make a final selection.  Check out these five considerations to help make your choice a bit easier!

Testimonials: Musicians’ testimonials are key to determining their reliability, flexibility, and overall event knowledge.  Take the time to read about previous clients’ experiences and if the musician has met, if exceeded, their needs and expectations.  If the musician cannot provide testimonials or references, it may be a sign that they are new to the industry and inexperienced.

Location: Where the musician is located relative to your venue will affect the amount of traveling they must do.  Because many musicians have travel fees for locations beyond  a certain mileage radius, seek out local vendors.  Not only will hiring a local musician avoid a travel fee, but it also increases the chance that he or she will be familiar with the venue and work easily venue staff on the wedding day.

Communication: As with all vendors, it is important to hire a musician who is easy to communicate with.  He or she should have a response time of no later than 48 hours and should be contactable via phone, email, etc.  If you have a wedding planner, they will connect with the musician on the wedding day, so it is important that there is a clear line of communication.

Venue: Although your venue and musician selections may seem unrelated, they are actually important to consider in conjunction.  When selecting the type of instrument you would like played at your wedding, review the size of your ceremony space and if the instrument is resonant enough to be heard throughout.  Also, if microphones or amplification are needed, there must be sufficient and accessible outlets.  Finally, consider the accessibility of your venue, as some musicians may charge a cartage fee for venues that are especially difficult to reach.Image result for wedding musician
Style: Each musician has an unique style of music and playing.  From bluegrass to classical to rock, the options are endless.  Look for a musician whose music reflects the feel of your wedding and will set the overall mood you and your fiance are looking for.
