You know what they say, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” Many brides prefer the traditional wedding cake, although if you are the kind of bride that wants to shake things up, a cake doesn’t always cut it. Here are a few ideas for alternative or complementary desserts for the big day.
Cupcakes are a great way to satisfy your guests’ sweet tooth. The individually packaged cakes are easy to serve as well as pleasing to the eye. Each one contains/has its own personal touch and design. An array of cupcakes is similar to a cake but does not require the tedious cutting and serving. To uphold the classic wedding cake tradition, some brides incorporate a small cake at the top of the cupcake arrangement.
Another fun way to have an “out of the box” dessert table at your wedding is an ice cream bar. Let your guests personally design their own cone by providing a variety of delicious candy and toppings. This is a great option for summer weddings.
Similar to an ice cream bar, another option is a s’mores bar. This unique idea is one your guests will remember. The fire creates a cozy place for guests to gather, share stories, and of course have fun and get creative with this American summer pastime.
Popcorn although isn’t the sweetest of treats it sure is yummy. Popcorn buckets with a variety of different seasonings are good for party favors and snacks for the guest. Whether it is served as dessert, throughout the night, or when the guest return home, popcorn is a simple pleasure (especially when there’s seasoning and butter involved!) And, the added boost, it is a healthy option!
If you decide to have a traditional cake, a good
complementary dessert is hot cocoa. High quality cocoa is an easy way to add something special to dessert. Set up a table with hot cocoa and cups, make sure to add some bowls with different toppings (marshmallows, candy cane, white chocolate sprinkles.) Your guest will be satisfied and warm with the complementary hot drink. And many guests would appreciate coffee as well, straight up or to mix with hot cocoa and toppings.
A “Candy Bar” with all of the fun mouth-watering options are pleasing to the eye… and also to the kids. They can be set-up throughout the entire wedding for those guest who have a sweet tooth. Candy can serve as a party favor, as well as a dessert option!
